Sleep Apnea and Healthcare reform... It is time to be heard.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act , such as it is, has become the law of the land. The President and the Congress of the United States will now turn their attention to reforming the healthcare system of the country.

This is likely to be a long process... there are many stakeholders (read entrenched interests) whose voices will need to be heard before any proposal can be acted upon.

The American Sleep Apnea Association is asking apnea patients, their families, other affected parties, healthcare professional both in the sleep field and outside, to let our President and their Members of Congress know that untreated sleep apnea is a serious medical condition that has consequences far beyond the bedroom.

I agree sleep apnea is a very serious ailment. Most people don't understand the consequences of lack of sleep.

I am in complete consonance with your opinion and objectives at alrge. In United States alone almost 18 million people are suffering with sleep apnea and other sleep disorders. It is really not much difficult to estimate that across the world this number would not be less than a billion at least.Majority of the people even do not know that they are suffering with this disorder. Knowledge is power and awareness only can help.
